Farshid Guilak, Ph.D.

Farshid Guilak, PhD, Co-founder, Executive Chairman of the Board,is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Director of Research for the Shriners Hospitals for Children – St. Louis Shriners, and one of the world’s leading experts in cartilage tissue engineering.  In addition to his many academic accomplishments, Dr. Guilak also has extensive industry experience having acted as a consultant for several start-up companies in the areas of stem cells and tissue engineering, as well as for several large pharmaceutical companies.

David Pritchard, Chief Executive Officer, is a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive with extensive experience leading innovative companies.  He has previously served as CEO of several university-based and early stage startups and has worldwide experience in M&A, fund raising, licensing and alliance management, product development and business development.



Bradley T. Estes, Ph.D.

Bradley Estes, PhD, Co-founder, President and Chief Operating Officer, has held various research and development positions in industry in addition to acting as a consultant for both small, start-up and large, established medical device companies.  He has over 25 years of industry experience in medical device design, research and development of orthopaedic devices, and extensive experience interacting with FDA for the purposes of regulatory approvals.  Dr. Estes’ work at Cytex applies regenerative medicine techniques to provide novel solutions to unmet needs in orthopaedic medicine. Dr. Estes is an inventor or co-inventor on 51 patents associated with medical devices. Dr. Estes earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

Franklin Moutos, PhD, Co-founder, Vice President, Technology Development, has broad experience in the application of textile and biomedical engineering principles to the development of biomaterial scaffolds for tissue regeneration. Through employment and collaboration with multiple start-up companies and research facilities over his career, Dr. Moutos has been involved in the development of new technologies for the treatment of osteoarthritis and related degenerative joint diseases using various biomaterials, stem cells, and gene therapies.  Dr. Moutos received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

Vincent Willard, PhD, Director of Regenerative Therapies, has extensive experience in molecular and stem cell biology toward developing engineered cartilage with specific genetic, biochemical, and mechanical properties. Through his 15+ years of research experience, Dr. Willard has led numerous interdisciplinary teams to complete projects in a variety of bioengineering subjects including articular cartilage and fibrocartilage biology and tissue engineering, orthopaedic tissue biomechanics and interspecies comparisons, pluripotent stem cell differentiation, and gene therapy.  Dr. Willard received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Rice University.
